Safety Centre
Practical precautions for customers, providers, employers and jobseekers.
Before hiring a provider
- Confirm the person or business name, telephone number, experience and relevant qualifications.
- Ask for a written description of the work, price, timing and what is included.
- For regulated work, independently verify licences, registrations or insurance.
- Avoid large advance payments. Use traceable payment methods and obtain receipts.
- For in-person services, tell someone where you are meeting and choose a safe location.
For massage, beauty and personal-care appointments
- Use clear, professional service descriptions and boundaries.
- Confirm the business address or mobile-service arrangements before the appointment.
- Do not post identity documents or sensitive health information publicly.
- Report sexual, coercive, deceptive or unsafe advertisements immediately.
Job safety
- Legitimate employers should not require applicants to pay to obtain a job.
- Do not send banking passwords, one-time codes or unnecessary identity documents.
- Research the employer independently before attending an interview or accepting remote work.
- Be cautious of guaranteed-income claims, crypto payment schemes and requests to transfer money.
